📜 Notatki – Imiesłowy (Matura rozszerzona)
1) Rodzaje imiesłowów i relacja czasowa
Present participle (V-ing) – czynny / równoczesność
- • Walking down the street, I met Tom. (= gdy szedłem, spotkałem…)
- • Not knowing the code, she asked for help.
- • Looking at the data, we notice a trend.
Past participle (V3) – bierny / stan po czynności
- • Shocked by the news, she left.
- • Given more time, we would finish.
- • Surrounded by mountains, the town is lovely.
Perfect participle (Having + V3) – wcześniejszość
- • Having finished the report, we went home. (= po skończeniu raportu…)
- • Having been warned, they acted carefully. (perfect + strona bierna)
EXAM TIP: Jeśli czynność z imiesłowem jest wcześniejsza od tej w zdaniu głównym → wybierz having + V3. Jeśli równoczesna → V-ing.
2) Participle clauses: funkcje + podmiot
Najczęstsze relacje znaczeniowe
- • Przyczyna: Being tired, she went to bed.
- • Warunek: Given enough time, we can solve it.
- • Skutek: He slipped, hitting his head.
- • Równoczesność: Standing at the door, he waited.
- • Poprzedniość: Having read the article, I disagree.
Zasada podmiotu (unikaj „dangling”)
- • Imiesłów odnosi się do tego samego podmiotu co zdanie główne.
- ❌ Driving to work, the traffic was heavy.
- ✅ Driving to work, I found the traffic heavy.
Jeśli podmioty różne → użyj pełnej konstrukcji (because/when/while…).
3) Reduced relatives – forma aktywna
- • People who live here → People living here are friendly.
- • Students who are preparing → Students preparing for exams…
- • Anyone who wants → Anyone wanting to join…
Wzór: who/that + be + V-ing → V-ing; who/that + V (regular) → V-ing (opisz osoby wykonujące czynność).
4) Reduced relatives – forma bierna
- • Books that were written by Orwell → Books written by Orwell…
- • The data that is provided → Data provided by the lab…
- • Forms that are required → Forms required for the visa…
Wzór: who/that + be + V3 → V3 (opis stanu/cechy, nie działania autora zdania).
5) Przymiotniki -ed / -ing (uczucie vs cecha)
- • -ed → jak się czuje osoba: interested, bored, confused
- • -ing → jaka jest rzecz/sytuacja: interesting, boring, confusing
- • I’m interested in data science. / The lecture is interesting.
- • We were bored. / The film was boring.
MINI-TEST: Jeśli poprzedza be + zaimek osobowy (I/he/she) → zwykle -ed. Jeśli opisujesz rzecz → zwykle -ing.
6) Strona bierna & konstrukcje
- • Be + V3: The door is closed.
- • Have/Get + object + V3 (causative): We had the car repaired.
- • With + object + V-ing/V3/adjective (okolicznik): With the windows open, it’s cold.
- • Absolute construction (rzadziej na maturze, eleganckie): The weather being fine, we left early.
UWAGA: With + object + open/closed/broken – to nie pełna pasywna, tylko opis stanu.
7) Perfect participle, błędy i strategia
Perfect participle (czynność wcześniejsza)
- • Having finished the task, he left.
- • Having been invited, she felt honoured.
- • Kontrast: Finishing the task, he left. (brzmi jak równoczesność → nienaturalne)
Typowe błędy (matura)
- • Dangling: ❌ Walking to school, the rain started. → ✅ Walking to school, I noticed it started to rain.
- • -ed/-ing swap: ❌ I’m interesting in… → ✅ I’m interested in…
- • Mylenie biernej z przymiotnikiem stanu: the door open(ed) w „with + object”
EXAM STRATEGY (krok po kroku)
- Najpierw porównaj czasową relację: równocześnie czy wcześniej?
- Sprawdź podmiot po przecinku = ten sam co w zdaniu głównym.
- Wzrokowo znajdź „who/that + be” → zredukuj do V-ing lub V3.
- Dla nawyków stanów uczuć odróżnij -ed (osoba) i -ing (rzecz).
- Jeśli w grę wchodzi skutek/warunek/przyczyna – participle clause jest często zwięzła i lepsza stylistycznie.
